Coventrys hopes of a money-spinning cup run were snuffed
out at Premiership One side Bedford last night.
Cov went into the game with a one-point lead and were still ahead overall at half time
when the score stood at 5-5 but Bedford dominated the second period to run out convincing
winners.
Wing forward Jason Forster put the home side in front while Cov were a player down,
making the most of a drive forward from a line-out, but full back Wayne Kilford eased the
pressure when he managed an interception and sprinted 60 yards to touch down.
But then Bedford took over. Ben Whetsone, Kilfords opposite number, kicked a
penalty and then scored two tries, one of which was then converted by Tony Yapp, who also
added two points to a touch down from Wells.
Kilford managed to grab another try, which was converted by Argentinian Luis Criscuolo,
before Ewens (2) and Whetsone completed the comprehensive win.
