Coventry
Bears are back on track for a place in the play-offs following a great
win on Saturday.
They beat the Birmingham
Bulldogs in a full-blooded contest which tested Coventry’s resolve
until the final minutes.
James Cathcart opened the
scoring for Coventry, but the home team re-gained the lead with a try
following poor defence by the Bears.
Birmingham took the lead early
in the second half, but Glenn Southwell and Andy Lewis both scored
tries to give Coventry the match.
Some of Coventry’s regular
players were missing, but new faces Glenn Southwell and Ady
Nightingale performed well to show the value of having a competitive
squad.
Coventry’s strength in depth
was shown in the second team game, with the Bulldogs’ second string
being hammered 24 – 60.
