Coventry
Bears continued their unbeaten start to the season with a fine win
against a Leicester side that could not match the away team’s
commitment.
The Bears now are top in both
the National Composite Table and the Western Conference with 6 points
in 3 games.
The game was a rough and tough
contest that saw Leicester’s coach dismissed from the field.
The Bears opened the scoring
after only seven minutes when Francis Slater first broke through and
then kicked ahead for Andy Lewis to win the foot race to score near
the posts.
Leicester were back on terms
only three minutes later. This was to be the only time Leicester broke
down a resolute Coventry defence.
From then on, Coventry cut
loose with forwards and backs regularly breaking through.
Two tries by Danny Malin and
one by Rich Davies and good kicking by James Cathcart, who in addition
to conversions, scored a drop goal that took the score to Leicester 6
– Coventry 23 at half time.
The second half saw
Coventry’s vociferous band of travelling supporters having plenty to
cheer about as the Bears increased their lead.

Danny Malin who completed his hat trick ensured that Leicester were
well and truly beaten.
