Chartrand
And Thompson Scoop The Honours
Coventry
Blaze captain Steve Chartrand and coach Paul Thompson have received
accolades in the FBNL end of season awards.
Chartrand,
who missed two months after breaking his jaw, was selected as Player
of the Year in the Findus British National League annual awards.
The
awards are voted on by each coach in the league. During the league
season Chartrand played 23 games, and scored 14 goals and 22
assists.
When
he was out injured the team slumped in form and confidence, missing
his ability to play goal-to-goal hockey.
And
Blaze coach Paul Thompson was picked out by his colleagues as the
best coach in the league.
New
signing Stephen Cooper, who moved to Coventry from Hull after the
club ran into financial difficulties, was selected in the British
All Star team.
Blaze Operations
Director Grant Charman said everyone at the club was thrilled:
"We
are obviously delighted for Steve, Coops and Thommo.
"These
awards are picked by the other coaches of the FBNL teams and are
therefore seen as some of the most important honours available.
"When
your peers pick you out like this I think it really means
something. I'm sure that all three are happy to have been selected
and will be taking it as a real honour."
