Extra Fixture for Coventry Blaze
The
Coventry Blaze ice hockey team will definitely have a home
fixture on Wednesday 27 September, regardless of the outcome of
the Benson & Hedges Cup games this weekend.
The
Blaze are still in with a remote chance of qualifying for the
ISL Challenge Round in the Benson & Hedges Cup. If they do
qualify then they will play the current ISL Champions, Bracknell
Bees, at the Skydome Arena on Wednesday.
Qualification
for the Blaze however hangs on a thread. In order for them to
qualify, top team Guildford Flames will have to slip up at home
against lowly Slough Jets, and Blaze will have to win away at
Basingstoke on Sunday.
With
ice time already agreed for a match at the Arena, the Blaze have
agreed with Hull Thunder that they could start their British
National League campaign on Wednesday if the Blaze do not
qualify for the Cup Challenge Round.
Operations
Director, Grant Charman confirmed:
"Blaze
had an outstanding fixture with the Thunder to agree and this
seems like an ideal opportunity to maximise the usage of
available ice at the Arena. Hull were also on standby until
last weekend as they were also possible winners of their
B&H Group so they had their full team together.
"We
are also looking at a couple of other additional fixtures over
the coming weeks and hope to have further news shortly."
Should
the game on Wednesday be the BNL game against Hull the game will
be a Season Ticket fixture, however, if Bracknell are the
opponents Season Tickets will not be valid.
