NOV 99] LEAMINGTON HOCKEY CLUB RESULTS
Saturday 20 November 1999LEAMINGTON 1ST XI 3
BARLASTON 1ST XI 0
Leamington managed their first victory for over a month against 10-man opposition in
their latest DTZ Debenham Thorpe Division 2 West fixture over the weekend.
Leamington struggled to come to terms with a defensive minded opposition and failed to
capitalise on their early possession. The breakthrough finally came from Richard
Greenslade with a powerful shot from a penalty corner.
The second half continued in the same vein with Barlaston defending resolutely and
Leamington failing to convert the chances they did create. The introduction of Nick Green
gave Leamington more attacking options and they finally made the game safe with goals from
Rob Murdoch and a second from Richard Greenslade both following left-wing crosses.
In a scrappy performance the Window Warm Man of the Match was midfielder Nick Green.
RUGELEY 2ND XI 1 LEAMINGTON 2ND XI 1
Leamington 2nd's promotion push took a dent with a poor performance at lowly Rugeley
resulting in a drab 1-1 draw.
The first half finished goalless but with Leamington looking the more likely to score.
Harsh words at half time seemed to spark a mini revival and Leamington finally took the
lead through Dave Hales.
Missed chances proved costly as the home team were gifted an equaliser minutes from
time when a stray back pass only succeeded in finding Rugeley's centre forward who
finished well.
LEAMINGTON 3RD XI 0 BARTON 3RD XI 1
Leamingtons good recent run of
form ended with a disappointing display at home to 10-man Barton in their latest DTZ
Debenham Thorpe league fixture.
