OCT 99] LEAMINGTON HOCKEY CLUB RESULTS
Saturday 30 October 1999KYNOCH 1ST XI 2 LEAMINGTON
1ST XI 2
Leamington battled for a hard fought point at Kynoch in their DTZ Debenham
Thorpe West Midlands Division 1 match on Saturday.
Boosted by the return of Nick Green, who made an immediate impact in
midfield, Leamington exerted a lot of early pressure and eventually scored after a cool
finish by Rob Kerr.
Leamington continued to press forward but were prevented from extending
their lead by some poor finishing and desperate defending.
Kynoch felt hard done by towards the end of the half when they were only
awarded a penalty corner instead of a penalty stroke following an infringement in the
circle. This seemed to affect Leamington more than their opponents and Kynoch scored twice
following some sloppy defending early in the 2nd half to take the lead.
Leamington pushed forward with Man of the Match Nick Green prominent as
the game opened up and soon scored a deserved equaliser - Richard Greenslade finishing
smartly from a through ball from Richard Gibson.
Although both sides created further chances, neither side could score the
decisive goal and the game finished level at 2-2.
LEAMINGTON 2ND XI 3
DROITWICH 2ND XI 2
Leamington 2nds returned to winning ways in their latest
DTZ Debenham Thorpe West Midlands Division 2 match at the weekend.
Leamington conspired to make life difficult for themselves as they gave
visiting Droitwich an early lead after a bad mistake by Leamington keeper Craig Looney.
Leamington soon took control and steamed into a 3-1 lead through goals
from Tim Briscoe and Brendan Farmer (2).
A penalty flick miss by Ross Antrobus
could have proved costly as Droitwich fought back in the second half to make it 3-2. But
keeper Looney managed to redeem himself by making several fine saves to ensure Leamington
sealed a well deserved victory.
ASHBY 3RD XI 2 LEAMINGTON 3RD
XI 0
A below strength 3rd XI put up a spirited performance on
Saturday away to Ashby but after losing Neil Rogers to a head wound for the last 25
minutes lost 2-0.
