OCT 99] LEAMINGTON HOCKEY CLUB RESULTS
Saturday 9 October 1999CHADDERSLEY CORBETT 1ST XI 2 LEAMINGTON 1ST
XI 7
Leamington secured their first victory of the season with a comfortable
away win on Saturday. Leamington dominated from the start and even though they went behind
to a well-struck penalty corner, they soon took the lead through goals from Richard
Greenslade and Rob Kerr.
Chaddersley scored a shock equaliser with another penalty corner goal
but Leamington re-established a 2-goal cushion with further goals from Rich Greenslade and
Rob Kerr.
The second half continued in the same vein with Leamington pushing
forward and the visiting side were rewarded with two more goals from Rich Greenslade and a
penalty flick by Rob Murdoch after Jimmy Faulkner was brought down in the circle.
Chaddersley’s frustration boiled over as they had two players sent off, one for
dissent and one for retaliation.
This was a good all-round performance with Leamington’s defense limiting
Chaddersley to only a handful of chances, Steve Compton playing well in the midfield and a
4 goal haul from Window Warm Man of the Match Richard Greenslade.

LEAMINGTON 2ND XI 2 YARDLEY 2ND XI 0
Leamington 2nd's put in an all round brilliant team performance
to beat last year’s League Champions Yardley 2-0.
The scores were level at half time but Leamington upped their game in
the second half with some gutsy defending from Dario Payne and Man of the match Frank
Elkins.
Tireless work from Adam Bellerby and
skipper Steve Looney led to a goal each for the hardworking threat of Tim Briscoe and
Brendan Farmer up front. But it was Leamington's magnificent team spirit which gave them a
deserved 3 points for their promotion push.
