Matt Owen settled this close fought match with a scorching 54 minute goal.

It was his fourth goal of the season scored with a 20 yards shot following Ashley Warner's lay off.

VS dominated the early stages and Owen and Warner could have scored in the opening two minutes. Their only moment of danger arrived on the stroke of half-time when Weston's Mark Price was played through but shot straight at goalkeeper Ian Ladkin.

A reflex save by Weston's goalkeeper Dave Mogg prevented Richard Hamer settling the points for Rugby in the 83rd minute, but VS then found themselves defending hard and Ladkin had to make two top class saves in the dying moments.
