Stourbridge (2) 4
Racing Club Warwick (0) 1
[DR MARTENS MIDLAND DIVISION]Poor defending was again the order of the day for Racing Warwick
who crashed to a big defeat after gaining their second victory of the season three days
earlier.
They were in with a chance of pulling the game
around at the start of the second half, but more defensive lapses enabled big-spending
Stourbridge to finish comfortable winners.
Racing's resistance lasted for half an hour but then Scott
Colcombe burst through their defence and crossed for Paul Hunter to rifle in a powerful
shot.
On the stroke of half-time Racing failed to defend a long
throw-in and John Muir swooped to increase Stourbridge's head from close in.
The Warwick side felt they were back in with a chance when
midfielder Mark Smith caught Stourbridge napping at the far post and forced home the ball
in the first minute of the second half.
Stuart Clarke and Jason Woodley both had headers smartly
saved as Racing pressed for an equaliser, but then defensive mistakes took a hand again.
In the 70th minute, against the run of play, Michael Moore
ran almost the length of the pitch unchallenged to beat goalkeeper Richard Anstiss. Two
minutes later Racing lost possession outside their own area and Moore curled a 20 yards
shot into the roof of the net.
