Martin
Bewell has had to move fast since taking over the reins at Racing Club Warwick.
He had just one player signed on when he was appointed manager three weeks ago but is
now ready to take on Midland Alliance champions Bloxwich Town at home.
Bewell had been assistant to Dave Draper at Racing Club before moving to Evesham United
last year and he succeeded the management team of Paddy Billington and former Coventry
City and Wales midfielder Barry Powell.
He has lost three of last years squad, with Kieren Sullivan moving to VS Rugby,
Martin Hier transferring to Sutton Coldfield and Keith Brown signing on for Paget Rangers.
In have come right-back Andy Smith from Redditch United, midfielder Stuart Clarke from
Bromsgrove, former Stoke City professional centre-half Rob Burke, and defender Jason
Woodley from Shepshed.
Central midfielder Rob Higgs heads across the county from Atherstone while striker
Kevin Thompson follows Bewell from Evesham.
Bewell said:
"It has not been easy to say the least. Three weeks is not long enough to prepare
but that was the situation and we have had to get on with it.
"I have been happy with the response of the players and everyone is pulling in the
right direction. All I can do is give it my best shot and I know I have the ability to do
a very good job for the club.
"It is a very competitive division with lots of local derbies and I am looking
forward to it."
