Bedworth United have emerged as the crackerjack team of the
Midland Division crashing in twenty-one goals in their last four matches and looking
likely to score every time they play.
From being relegation candidates in the first half of the season they now have the
capability to be a top six side in the opinion of manager Billy Hollywood.
He was delighted in midweek when his team dismantled Premier Division side Tamworth to
win 5-1 in the Dr Martens League Cup.
"I looked through the team and I could not find a single player who put in an
indifferent performance," said Hollywood.
The manager was even more pleased that his team achieved the result on Tamworths
pitch and he must feel now that his side is capable of anything.
"It is pleasing from all angles," he says. "For instance, despite all
the goals we have scored in the last four matches, our top scorer Robbie Beard has got
only two of them.
"It is good for the team to know that goals are being scored from all sorts of
different positions and that we are not reliant on just one or two players.
"The way we are playing we could finish in the top six. The only thing which can
stop us is ourselves. We are showing character, we are playing great stuff and we must be
among the most attractive teams in the league to watch at present."
Bedworth travel to play Newport tomorrow and Hollywood says:
"Newport are second top. This will be a real test of how far we have come this
season."
