JAN 99] BEDWORTH UNITED NEWS
Stourbridge (2) 2
Bedworth United (2) 6
[DR MARTENS MIDLAND DIVISION]Three goals in ten minutes early in the second half brought
Bedworth United an amazing victory over a side two places above them in mid-table.
United were 2-0 up early in the first half through Christy McKenzie and an own goal by
Stourbridge defender Kevin Thompson. But they let Stourbridge back into the match by
half-time when Richard Wood and Jamie Bunch found the net.
But in a crazy period after the restart Bedworth clinched the match in tremendous
style.
Paul Bedder lashed home a free-kick from 35 yards in the 52nd minute and
within sixty seconds Tony Robinson added another.
Incredibly Stourbridge then missed a penalty when Craig Glover saved from Paul Danks,
and McKenzie scored Bedworths fifth goal when two defenders collided to leave him
with a gift.
It became one of those days for Stourbridge when Adam Bastable was sent off and Robbie
Beard completed Bedworths scoring.
