United had the better of the match against their opponents from
Dorset but could not convert their chances.
Weymouth went to Sheepy Road with few ideas on how to win the match. Instead they
packed their defence to battle for a draw. It worked but only because of Atherstones
lack of quality in front of goal.
The clearest chance of the match arrived in the 125th minute when Richard
Landons cross was met perfectly by Kim Green but his goal bound header was scuffed
off the line by defender Steve Richardson.
David Hart had an early chance to score but his header was saved by Weymouths
young goalkeeper Paul Myers diving to his left.
The visitors only worthwhile chance came in the 66th minute but striker Mark
Bolton directed his shot wide from a good position.
