Richard Landon scored a debut goal to set
United on the way against the team one place above them in the table.
But Hastings equalised before half-time and a draw was a fair result after a hard
fought match on a frosty pitch.
Atherstone's manager Ron Bradbury has warned his players that Hastings were a
'formidable' side and that United badly needed a result after a poor run.
They had the best of starts, when after only 12 minutes Kim Green flicked on Scott
Blair's pass for Landon to tap home on his debut.
But though United dominated the first half it was Hastings who scored when Steve Yates
coolly lobbed the ball over Atherstone's goalkeeper Dale Belford.
Landon almost grabbed another goal in the 64th minute but his shot missed the target
and the final chance to snatch two more points came United's way near the end, but Mark
Albrighton's shot was blocked by a defender.
