List Clears For Crusaders' Home Finale
Coventry
Crusaders are hoping to get out of their losing ways in their
final home game of 2000 when they take on Solent Stars on
Saturday.
Coach
Dip Donaldson blames their mixed fortunes on the loss of two
American and a serious bout of injuries. Out of the 11 man squad
6 have been playing with injuries, or missing games because of
them.
Now
with the Crusaders being almost 100 percent fit, and with a new
recruit Marvin Harrison, he said things are looking more stable
and more optimistic than they have for a while.
Solent
has been a strong team in the recent years, with a long history
of championship trophy, and have the patience to take a year or
two to build a winning side.
This
could be a transition year for them.
Alan Cunningham has stepped down as head coach, and
experienced player Mark Scott has taken his place.
They
have the veterans, Chris Harper, an American player who used to
play for Cardiff, Eddie Owusu and Mike Griffith, experienced
guard and forward, and another American player Toby Tripalin who
has had some good games for them so far this season.
Donaldson
said:
"They
have beat us away quite a few times over the past few years
and I am ready for a change.
“Our
team is so different this year in its personality and ability
that I think we will take some teams by surprise - at least
until they see us the first time.
“We
have practised hard this week, as usual, and most of the guys
will be back on court again after resting injuries."
"We
will just go with the players that are fit. I believe in the
guys we have here."
The
Crusaders will not be at their strongest for some weeks once
Dominic Davis recovers from a bad back.
