Quality Cats Get Ready To Prowl
Coventry’s
new women basketball team will be play their opening fixture under the
Crusaders umbrella tomorrow.
The
Coventry Quality Cats will be opening their National Division One
Women's Basketball season when they play away at St Albans.
The
Quality Cats are moving their home base from Birmingham to the
Coventry Sports and Leisure Centre.
They
had a lot of success in recent years, although last season's nail
biting finale just kept them in the top division for this season.
The
team moved to Coventry to get access to a larger programme to help
nurture talent.
Crusaders
owner Dip Donaldson said he has been very excited about the expansion
of the Crusaders women's programme.
He
said:
"It
is great to be able to field a top level women's basketball team
under the Crusaders canopy after such a short time.
“The
Quality Cats willingness to come across to Coventry to train and
play their games and integrate with some of our top players has been
a tremendous bonus for the club.
“It
adds a whole different dimension, besides giving our young ladies a
real challenge to aim for."
The
Crusaders will continue to run a team in the Leicestershire League
to make sure there are plenty of opportunities for women to
play basketball at different levels.
Crusaders
girls and ladies training night is Monday at Tile Hill College from 7-
8.30pm. People interested in getting involved should ring 024 76
811751.
The
Quality Cats home debut will be before the Bupa Crusaders game on
Saturday 30 September.
They
will tip-off at 5pm at the Coventry Sports Centre in their opener
against Doncaster.
Tickets
prices are £4, and will allow entry to the NBL Conference game
against Manchester at 7.30 pm.
