Crusaders Slam Dunk New Signing
Coventry
Crusaders have unveiled their latest recruit from the United States
and are pinning their hopes on him to improve their fortunes in the
new season.
Adam
Stevens arrived this week and has been taken part in some training
sessions and promotional events for the team.
Stevens,
a graduate from the Mt Vernon Nazarene College in Ohio, has come with
a host of statistics behind him to back his potential.
The
22-year-old is 6ft 6in and
plays in the small forward position.
He averaged 18 points and 8.5 rebounds per game last season for
MVNC.
Stevens
will be heavily involved in the work of the Crusader Foundation, the
basketball development side of the Crusaders Basketball Club.
He
will be doing a lot of community and school coaching throughout the
season, as well as training and playing for the senior team.
Bupa
Crusaders’ Coach Donaldson said:
“He is an excellent shooter from
outside and will complement the great inside game the Crusaders
already have with Derrick Pope.
“His
style of play will lend a lot of speed and excitement for the
Crusaders side.
"Stevens’
speed, along with his far ranging shooting accuracy and his ability
to take the ball through the middle and straight to the basket will
create a lot of headaches for other teams and be a tremendous bonus
for us.
“I
am really looking forward to the start of the season.”
Crusaders
will be playing in a charity match at the Coventry Sports Centre on 2
September and their first league game will be the following weekend,
also at home.
