The
Coventry Crusaders Basketball Club has just released the exciting news that veteran and
former Crusader player and All-Star, Matt Donaldson is returning to Coventry after
personal interviews with owner Dip Donaldson, while Dip was in the USA recently.
Matt played for Coventry for six of the seven years in which Crusaders have been in
existence, and has been invaluable in the development of the Community and Schools
Coaching Programmes which are run by the Crusader Foundation. Matt will also be working in
the area of PR and marketing for the Crusaders Organisation.
Matt is always a consistent threat to the opposition while playing inside close to the
basket. He is a hard working player who scraps for loose balls and rebounds powerfully,
knowing how to finish up with two points once hes got the ball.
Last year Matt took a well-earned break from basketball and spent the year off working
in group homes for young offenders in his home town of Sacramento, California. The break
has helped his hunger for the game return, and has allowed his body to recuperate from the
injuries he had accrued over the years of playing ball.
Besides joining the senior squad, Matt will also be assisting Derrick Pope, the new
Director of Basketball Operations, in the running of programmes and development teams.
With Matts former experience and knowledge of the Crusader coaching programmes he
will be a great asset and resource for Derrick Pope.
