The Coventry
Crusaders have to prove they can raise around £400,000 a year before they will be allowed
to join the Budweiser League.
Owner Dip Donaldson met with league officials and representatives from the new Rank
Arena to discuss plans to move games to the new Spon Street sports and leisure complex.
Donaldson is hoping that would see the club move up to the top flight of British
basketball but he now has just months to prove the club have the financial footing to
succeed.
He said:
"I have to come up with a business plan that shows we can generate around
£3-400,000 a year. Rank have made an offer and that will help but I now have to have
meetings with marketing companies and sponsor chasers to see how we can attract revenue.
"It is going to be very hard but we have to show that we are capable of competing
and surviving at that level."
The Crusaders take on Cardiff at the Coventry Sports Centre tonight.
