Nilsson And Money In Charge At City
Player-coach
Roland Nilsson has taken over as acting-manager of Coventry
City, following the departure of Gordon Strachan.
The former Swedish international
will run the side together with the club's Academy Director
Richard Money, who takes over as acting head coach.
Their immediate task is to
prepare the side for Tuesday night's Worthington Cup tie against
Peterborough United.
This follows the departure of
coaches Garry Pendrey and Jim Blyth who have left along with
Gordon Strachan.
Announcing
all three departures, Sky Blues Chairman Bryan Richardson said:
“I wish to place on record
our sincere thanks and appreciation for Gordon’s efforts on
our behalf both as a player and as manager.
“For two years as a player he
almost single handedly kept Coventry in the Premiership. As a
manager he gave 100% effort every day for this Club.
“We all wish Gordon huge
success in the future and thank him for his refreshing
honesty, humour and sheer guts.
“We’d also like to place on
record our thanks to Garry Pendrey and Jim Blyth who are also
leaving the Club at this time. We wish them both a successful
future in the game.”
It is understood that Gordon
Strachan will receive a substantial payment in settlement of his
outstanding contract. It is thought that this is in the region
of £1 million. |
