COVENTRY v ROTHERHAM - GAME OFF
Coventry's match against Rotherham today has been postponed. The
pitch at Highfield Road is frozen, after overnight temperatures
dropped to as low as -10 degrees.
City's next match will be the FA Cup 3rd round tie against
Tottenham on Saturday at Highfield Road.
The extra few days may help Gary Breen and Lee Carsley regain
fitness for the cup tie.
MILLS
COMPLETES MOVE FROM PORTSMOUTH
Coventry have signed Portsmouth striker Lee Mills for a fee that
will rise to £250,000 based on appearances.
Mills has been on loan at Highfield Road since the end of
November and has now agreed a permanent deal.
Thirty-one year old Mills played only twice for Portsmouth this
season after the arrival of Peter Crouch and Mark Burchill. Mills
had joined Portsmouth from Bradford for £1million at the start of
last season, but the south coast side were willing to take a loss on
the sale to reduce their wage bill in the face of large debts.
Mills has impressed Roland Nilsson during his loan spell, scoring
two goals in eight games.
MBE
FOR McALLISTER
Former Coventry captain Gary McAllister received an MBE in the
New Year Honours List.
It capped a remarkable year for the 37 year old Scot who bagged
five cup winners medals with Liverpool since his free transfer from
Coventry in May 2000.
McAllister was honoured for his 20 years as a professional
footballer including a spell as captain of the Scottish national
team.
During his four years with Coventry McAllister scored 26 goals in
140 matches.
