[17
OCT 01] COVENTRY CITY MATCH
PREVIEW
Rotherham United v Coventry City
TIME
& PLACE
TEAM
NEWS
Newly confirmed manager Roland Nilsson has
a near full squad to chose from for the match at Rotherham.
Magnus
Hedman had no problems in Sunday's game at Walsall and will
no doubt take the number one spot tonight.
Front man Lee
Hughes has recovered from a dead leg and will be hoping to
get back in the scoring vein at Rotherham. His last goal was
against Manchester City on 19 September, and he has so far only
managed two goals in ten outings.
Nilsson must decide whether to bring back
in-form Youssef
Safri after he missed the Walsall game due to suspension.
If the Moroccan does feature in the
starting line-up it is likely that Laurent
Delorge will make way for him.
Long term casualties Julian
Joachim and John
Eustace are however still out of action.
Joachim, still out with an ankle injury,
has only managed three games for City since his arrival from
Aston Villa.
Eustace is still out of action with a knee
problem.

INTERESTING FACTS
In their last meeting in the
League at Christmas 1966, Rotherham came the closest any team
came to ending the Sky Blues 25 match unbeaten run. When Dave
Clements scored the equaliser in the 1-1 draw there were 92
minutes gone at Millmoor. That was City’s last league visit to
the ground.
The previous day’s game at
Highfield Road was an eventful one. Rotherham keeper Alan Hill
had his finger broken by a Bobby
Gould hot-shot and centre-forward John Galley went in goal.
Near the end a City fan ran on to the pitch and attacked Galley.
John Galley also made the
headlines in Rotherham’s 5-3 win at Coventry in 1964 when he
scored a hat-trick on his debut for the Millers.
Coventry’s 7-0 victory over
Rotherham in 1925 was, at the time, their biggest ever win in
their six year league history.
When City played Rotherham in the
League Cup in 1986-87 Dean
Emerson and Kevan
Smith of Rotherham impressed the Coventry management so much
they signed them.
