NEWS
It seems Hedman had made sufficient
progress under treatment to be available for selection. Andy
Goram is also thought to be making good progress. The goalkeeper
crisis should therefore be over.
Roland Nilsson has had a scan which has
revealed a tear in a calf muscle and so will not feature in the
Walsall match.
Both striker Lee Hughes and left back
Marcus Hall are back in training and ready for selection.
City's strike force is likely to be Hughes
and Jay Bothroyd with Jairo Martinez on the subs bench.
The defence could see Hall
returning at left back with Marc Edworthy switching to right
back.

INTERESTING FACTS
In their last meeting, in the
League Cup in 1984, Walsall sprang a major shock by knocking
First Division Coventry out of the competition. Despite Coventry
winning the first leg 2-1 the Saddlers romped home 3-0 at
Highfield Road in the second leg.
When the teams met in the FA Cup
in 1948 over 34,000 were at Highfield Road to watch City’s 2-1
victory. It was the largest crowd at the ground since 1938.
In the game between the clubs in
November 1953 Gordon Nutt scored one of the fastest ever goals
at Highfield Road, hitting the net after only 30 seconds play.
The following season in the game at Fellows Park Nutt scored
direct from a corner.
Today’s game will be the Sky
Blues first visit to the Bescot Stadium which has been Walsall’s
home since they moved from Fellows Park in 1990.
