Sky Blues Party Banks On Staying Up
Manchester
United might be slated for booking a hotel for the FA Cup final,
but optimistic Sky Blues fans have dubbed their end-of-season
knees up the Staying Up party.
A
rock and R’n’B band fronted by a Coventry City fan will be
coming to the city from Essex for the day, and will be playing
after the final game of the season against Bradford City on 19
May.
Reggie
Rug, who travels 150 miles from his home to keep in touch with
his family and to watch the Sky Blues, will be playing with the
band at the Earlsdon Cottage in Warwick Street from 8pm.
The
band will be called the Sky Blues Brothers for the day and will
play in the team strip. The organisers are hoping to have a
Coventry City player past or present as guest of honour.
Reg
– real name Jon – said whatever the result of the last game
of the season there will be enough people wanting to have a good
time.
He
said:
“If
we do get relegated then it will become a wake. It could well
go to the last game of the season. Whatever happens there will
be people who want to get drunk.”
Manchester
United have recently been scorned for allegedly booking a hotel
in Cardiff for the FA Cup final weekend.
The
move has been denied by the club, who say they wouldn’t think
about it until they reached the semi-final stage.
Sky
Blues fans can book tickets in advance for Coventry City’s own
version of a successful end of season by ringing Jon on 07802
357981 or Dave on 07967 029626.
