Breen Could Go As Hartson Is Admired
Gary
Breen could be on his way to Fulham, while the Sky Blues are
thought to be lining up a deal to buy John Hartson from
Wimbledon.
Coventry
chairman Bryan Richardson has denied that he is planning to sell
Breen for £3.5 million.
Breen,
who has been unsettled at Highfield Road after struggling to get
in the team earlier this season, is being looked at as a
replacement for injured Fulham Chris Coleman, who broke his leg
in three places in a car accident last week.
It
is reported on the Fulham FC website that a £3.5 million deal
is being considered for the 27-year-old Eire centre-back.
Breen,
seen by many as the Sky Blues’ best defender, often has to
play out of position at full-back, and could be in favour of a
move to London, although he would have to get used to 7am
training sessions and an alcohol ban imposed by French coach
Jean Tigana.
The
drop down a division would be temporary as Fulham are seen as
dead-certs for promotion.
Meanwhile
Welsh international John Hartson is thought to be close to a £2
million move to Highfield Road to solve Coventry’s goalscoring
problems.
Often
overweight and injury prone, Hartson is believed to want to
return to the Premiership after making his name at Arsenal as a
teenager. He moved to the Dons after failing to make the team
regularly at West Ham.
Any
deal could be linked to appearances in case his injury problems
return.
