Coventry Fail To Land Returning Keane
Robbie
Keane could soon be lining up against his former Coventry City
team-mates after signing on loan for Leeds.
The
out-of-favour striker has been loaned by Inter Milan until the
end of the season. It is possible that a permanent deal will be
done, but Inter will want £12million for the young star.
Keane
is now in the running to face Coventry when they visit Elland
Road on 30 January.
He
fell out of favour at the San Siro following his summer move
from Highfield Road when Inter’s coach was sacked.
Since
then Keane has found it hard to get in the side and is behind a
lengthy queue of top strikers, including Ronaldo and Christian
Vieri.
Speculation
has been mounting that Keane would come back to England on loan,
but Inter previously insisted that he would only be loaned to an
Italian club to gain extra experience.
Coventry
City boss Gordon Strachan failed in a bid to bring him to
Coventry, and Chelsea were thought to be completing a transfer
deal.
But
Leeds, who have expressed an interest several times in the past
have added him to their already impressive list of young
striking talent.
It
means that another former Sky Blue, Darren Huckerby could be on
the move. Despite Leeds’ chronic injury problems he has still
struggled to get in the starting line up.
