FA To Quiz Elliott Over Elbow Use
Matt
Elliott is in hot water following an incident between him and
Coventry City’s Craig Bellamy, despite the Sky Blues
player’s appeal to let the matter drop.
Leicester
City’s Elliott was today charged with violent and threatening
behaviour by the Football Association after the game earlier
this month where he was seen apparently elbowing Bellamy.
The
FA video advisory panel today decided that Elliott must defend his actions at a hearing. He
could face a three-match ban if he is found guilty.
The
incident was missed at the time but caught on camera. Sky Blues
midfielder David Thompson blasted Elliott for the clash, as it
was similar to a challenge last season when Michael Owen was
poleaxed by the Scottish
international's arms. Thompson later apologised.
But
Craig Bellamy, who was on the receiving end of Elliott’s
elbow, appealed last week to let the matter drop.
FA
spokesman Adrian Bevington said:
"Leicester
City's Matt Elliott was today charged with allegedly using
violent and threatening behaviour towards Coventry City's
Craig Bellamy during the Premiership game on December 10.
"This
followed the recommendations of three members of the video
advisory panel. Matt Elliott has 14 days to respond to the
charge."
