Naysmith Lined Up For Coventry Move
Coventry
City are close to signing Scottish international defender Gary
Naysmith from Hearts, it has been reported.
The
left-back is thought to be on his way to Highfield Road after an
offer was made by the Sky Blues.
Hearts
are cash-strapped at the moment and are not in a position to
turn down offers for any players, but the Tynecastle side is
believed to be holding out for a greater fee. £1.5m is the
figure being bandied around at the moment.
Naysmith
has not yet been involved in any talks with the club because he
is on international duty with Scotland in Croatia.
The
left-back position has been a long-standing problem for the Sky
Blues, with Marcus Hall proving injury prone.
David
Burrows left the club last season after failing to hold down a
regular place. Marc Edworthy can cover there, but prefers to
play at right back, where is needed as Tomas Gustafsson is
injured.
More
recruits are expected to arrive at Highfield Road shortly, with
the FIFA world rankings due to move Honduras up the world
pecking order.
This
should clear the way for Ivan Guerrero and Jairo Martinez to
make the switch as they should receive work permits.
Meanwhile
skipper Moustapha Hadji has denied speculation that he wants to
move to Bordeaux because he is unhappy at playing on the right
wing for Coventry.
