Coventry City are to play Ajax
Amsterdam at Highfield Road as a curtain-raiser to the new Premiership
season.
They will welcome the Dutch
team to the city as part of a series of pre-season friendlies, but so
far it is the only home fixture announced.
Other games planned include
trips to Wolves, Portsmouth and Belgian team KKA Gent.
The match in Belgium, with the
club that produced Cedric Roussel and Laurent Delorge, will take place
on 5 August at 8pm. Other games are likely to be pencilled in for the
trip to the Euro 2000 hosts.
The other matches were
arranged as part of transfer deals when the Sky Blues signed new
players.
Wolves will host Coventry City
at Molineux. The trip is on 26 July at 7.45pm in a game agreed when Steve
Froggatt switched clubs.
The
seaside clash with Portsmouth, arranged as part of John Aloisi’s
move, will take place on 29 July.
