Burrows Might Also Move On
Veteran
full-back David Burrows is set to make the fifth transfer of his
professional career unless Coventry City better the offer they have
made to him.
The
31-year-old is out of contract this summer and can move for free under
the Bosman ruling if he does not agree an extension to his current
deal.
The
Highfield Road side have put a two-year proposal to Burrows, but the
former Liverpool man is not happy with the terms.
With
Midlands rivals Wolves and West Bromwich Albion are believed to be
tracking the player, who admits that he could start the new season
with a new club.
He
said:
"The
contract Coventry have offered is the same as the last three years
and I am a little bit disappointed from that point of view.
"There
is every possibility that I won't sign the deal they have offered
me. I have made it clear I shall give every opportunity to assess
other options.
"There
are a couple of clubs interested but I shall have to wait and see
what they have to offer.
"I
have told the boss that if we can sort something out my first
intention is to stay at this club - I enjoy it here."
But
the Black Country boy has told manager Gordon Strachan that he will
not make him wait to see whether he needs to invest in a new
left-back.
He
said:
"I
will make a decision in the next two or three weeks, I will sit down
with the boss and talk about it.
"It
is possible that I will start next season with a new club. My
contract runs out on June 30 and if nothing is sorted out here I
shall go somewhere else - that's football.
"You
can't let your heart rule your head. It has to be right for myself
and my family."
