Coventry
City should find out the full extent of Colin Hendrys injury in the next 24 hours.
The Scotland skipper has a suspected broken eye socket, fractured nose and a cut to the
head after a challenge during the 5-0 thrashing at West Ham on Saturday.
The former Rangers man, who joined the club in February, is expected to see a club
specialist in the next few days but is certain to miss Scotlands friendly against
Holland on Wednesday night and has almost certainly played his last club game of the
season.
It is a bitter blow for the former Blackburn and Manchester City player who has been
steadily improving since his move and had said that his best form would only come next
season once he had a dozen or so games under his belt.
He will now be denied that opportunity but should be fit in time for the start of
pre-season training in July.
Morocco won their latest World Cup qualifying game when they saw off Gambia 2-0 in
Casablanca and City boss Strachan will be waiting to hear if his duo Moustapha Hadji and
Youssef Chippo played a part in the game.
Strachan is livid that Chippo was even in contention after picking up an injury against
Middlesbrough.
It will not have been a happy Bank Holiday weekend for Strachan who was livid at the
performance of the side at Upton Park and accused players of letting down the proud
tradition of the club.
He said:
"The Peakes, Kilclines, Regises and Ogrizovics and others who have battled for 30
years to get and keep the club at this stage would have been embarrassed by the
performance.
"I think the players have to ask themselves what they can do. The game is still
about players if you can manipulate the ball, have a hunger to work, and a mental
strength then the rest of the game can look after itself.
"We have got to 10th and 11th but we cant get above
that and its my job to do something about it. It's not major surgery but people have to
look at good players and follow what they do."
