City Snap Up Moroccan StarCoventry City
have snapped up Moroccan international Youssef Chippo from top Portuguese club FC Porto
for Ł1 million.
The attacking central midfielder featured in all
three of Morocco's France 98 World Cup games including their 3-0 victory over Scotland.
Gordon Strachan has been watching 26-year-old Chippo for
several months after being tipped off by former City fitness coach Roger Spry who is
currently working at Porto.
Bryan Richardson expressed great excitement about the deal
and hinted that Chippo is likely to be followed by one or two more new signings in the
coming weeks. The club chairman at the same time scotched rumours however that City had
any interest in former Sheffield Wednesday player Mark Pembridge who is now playing in
Portugal with Benfica.
Chippo is likely to join the Coventry squad in July.
