Sky Blues second
string went goal crazy to increase their chances of taking the Pontins League First
Division title.
Stefano Gioacchini again led the charge with two goals and must be close to earning
himself a permanent move to Highfield Road in the summer. He could even feature against
Leicester City on Saturday.
City did have an experienced line-up but in the early exchanges it looked an even
contest. Marcus Hall started the ball rolling in the 10th minute when he tried
his luck from 30 yards. Keeper Jorgen Neilsen got down to the ball but it slipped under
him and into the net.
Willie Boland came close to matching him three minutes later when he fired in from 25
yards.
That killed Wolves resistance off and from then on City just exploited the
visitors weaknesses. Gioacchini made it three from the spot after 23 minutes when
Philippe Clement was fouled by Mark Atkins.
Paul Hall made certain of a thrashing nine minutes from the interval when he
nonchalantly volleyed home a cross from Marcus Hall.
Gary McPhee, who worked hard alongside Gioacchini all night, set his partner up for a
second in the 57th minute, sliding the ball forward for the Venezia player who
rolled it past Neilsen and into the corner of the net.
Gioacchini returned the favour for McPhee 11 minutes from time before sub Andrew Ducros
showed his class with a curled right-foot shot.
