Telfer Escapes BanCoventry City midfielder
Paul Telfer will play against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Saturday.
The Scot, a regular in Gordon Strachans side, was expected to be banned after
being hauled before the FA for picking up 11 bookings this season.
But he escaped with a warning and a £2,000 fine, leaving him clear to line-up in what
will be a vital weekend for the Sky Blues.
City take on Southampton at Highfield Road on Monday knowing that victory could see
them on the way to safety.
Veteran goalkeeper Steve
Ogrizovic was seeing a specialist today for expert opinion on his neck and shoulder
injury.
The 41 year old who is in his 16th year at the club is in danger of missing
out on the clubs remaining eight matches as he battles to recover his fitness.
Manager Gordon Strachan meanwhile was assessing what players are now available before
deciding on his line up at Hillsborough.
Roland Nilsson is in Sweden convalescing from his fractured ribs and punctured lung and
David Burrows and John Aloisi are suspended. Marc Edworthy and Paul Williams come into the
frame and teenage goalkeeper Chris Kirkland will be on the subs bench as back up for
Magnus Hedman.
Hedman was travelling back from Poland today after playing for Sweden in last
nights international match.
Gary McAllister was back in training after his rough ride for Scotland against
Czechoslovakia when he was subjected to abuse by the Scots fans. Scotland lost 1-2.
