[20 JAN 99] DIOCESE
OF COVENTRY PRESS RELEASE
New Vicar of St Barbara's - Earlsdon, CoventryThe Bishop of Coventry, the Right Reverend Colin Bennetts has announced the
appointment of the Reverend Hilda Wild as Vicar of St Barbara's Earlsdon,
Coventry, in succession to the Reverend Tim Brooke who has moved to take charge of St
Francis, North Radford, in the city.
Hilda Wild (50) is currently curate of Newark in Southwell
Diocese. She was ordained in 1995 after a career as a secretary/shorthand typist in
Royston, Lancs. For 36 years she was a member of the local Salvation Army, as were all her
family so the decision to leave the band "with my Dad playing beside me" was a
big one.
"It was my discovery of Communion which was behind it
all," she says.
But she brings with her from her salvationist background,
all her experience of leadership, evangelism, children's work and music. Her husband Dave,
a builder, has become a house-husband to support Hilda's ministry. They have two grown-up
children. Both love walking and cycling and hate the car.
