Tickets Released For Church Music Festival

Tickets for next month's International Church Music Festival, based at Coventry Cathedral, are now on sale and set to sell fast.

The International Church Music Festival, which runs from 21-24 June, brings together more than 800 choral singers from across the world in a four-day celebration of church music.

The festival visits the city bi-annually and represents a fantastic opportunity to hear songs from some of the world's best church choirs.

Three ticketed concerts are being held at the cathedral.

There are two international concerts being held on the Thursday and Friday evenings and a gala evening on the Saturday night, which promises to be the highlight of the festival and will be covered by BBC Songs of Praise.

The International Evening on Thursday 22 June, which starts at 7.30pm, features music from some of the countries represented at the festival, which include Bulgaria, Ghana, Greece, India, the Netherlands, Poland and the Slovak Republic.

The second International Evening on Friday 23 June, which also starts at 7.30pm, features the same choirs as the Thursday concert together with the City of Coventry Youth Orchestra and the St Michael's Singers.

Tickets for both International Evenings are £6 each, £4 for concessions.

Saturday's Gala Evening, which starts at 7.30pm will be conducted by Sir David Willcocks and feature the Massed Festival Choir and Piano duo Stephen Nielsen and Ovid Young.

It will feature works by Mozart and Handel alongside pieces written by local conductor Paul Leddington-Wright.

Tickets for the Gala Evening are £8 each, £5 for concessions.

Festival co-ordinator, Claire Monks said:

"These concerts represent a rare opportunity to hear some fantastic music from choirs around the world.

“The uniqueness of the concerts and the added interest of the BBC televising the Gala concert mean that we anticipate demand for tickets to be high."

Tickets for all the concerts can be purchased from Coventry Cathedral Bookshop on 024 7625 1509 and the Warwick and Leamington Festival Box Office on 01926 496277.
