Coventry and Warwickshire will be one of five areas
in the country to pilot a new government initiative bringing service
for young people aged 13 – 19 closer together from April this year.
Connexions will see a seamless service between
careers and youth services, with young people being given a personal
advisor who will advise and guide them through their learning and
careers choices.
Councillor Richard Grant, Education Portfolio holder
for Warwickshire County Council, said:
"I am delighted that Coventry and
Warwickshire have been selected to pilot what will be a
transformation in services to young people. This is a real step
forward in giving this age group much more targeted and direct
support, through what can be a difficult time in their lives.
"I hope that by working closely with an
advisor who has the knowledge and experience to help guide them
through these important development years, we will see young people
getting off to a more focused start in their adult lives."
