County Councillor June Tandy has today been elected Chair of
Warwickshire County council at its annual meeting.
Her distinguished career within local government has spanned more than ten years, where
she has taken a keen interest in environmental and transport issues.
Councillor June Tandy, said:
"I am greatly honoured to be elected the first woman Labour Chair of the County
Council. With my years in local government and the Chair of various committees and panels,
I will be looking forward to the challenges that this new position will hold for me. I
feel that this is a particularly privileged year to be chair as we head into the next
millennium."
Born in June 1945, Councillor Tandy has chaired the environmental Strategy Committee
and the West Midlands Local Government Association Sub Committee as well as other smaller
sub committees. Her other commitments included serving on the Warwickshire Police
Authority and the West Midlands Regional Chamber.
Councillor Tandy is Secretary to Bill Olner MP. She enjoys spending time with her
family and lists reading and travelling as her leisure activities. She is married to
Graham and has two children a son and daughter and a five year old grand-daughter Zoe.
