FEB 99] STRATFORD ON AVON DISTRICT COUNCIL PRESS RELEASE
Play Area ObjectionCouncil officials in
Stratford have asked for an urgent meeting with local residents who are objecting to a new
play area being built. Work was stopped earlier this week on the construction of the
£34,000 Trevelyan Crescent children's play area in Stratford-upon-Avon, when complaints
were received from nearby residents.
Last year Stratford District Council consulted residents in
Drayton Avenue and Trevelyan Crescent on the replacement of the play area, which was at
that time poorly equipped. As a result of that consultation, the Council designed a new
play area, the details of which residents were also invited to comment upon.
When construction started last week, two complaints were
made to the Council and an alternative layout was proposed, which residents have also
rejected. Earlier today (Wednesday) residents handed in a petition signed by 18 people
objecting to the proposed play area.
The meeting has been arranged for 4.00pm this Friday, 5
February at the site, with Council officers, ward members and the residents.
