Community Grants To Help Stratford Groups
Community
projects across south Warwickshire have benefited won over £30,000
from the National Lottery.
Over
£32,300 has been distributed in the funding programme 'Awards for
All.'
This
is the fifth round of grants that has been awarded within the
Stratford-on-Avon District, bringing the total to over £126,800.
Awards
for All is aimed at helping groups which involve local communities, or
which bring people together to enjoy arts, charities, sports and
heritage.
Projects
that celebrate the millennium are also included.
The
emphasis is on projects where a small sum of money can have a big
impact.
Grants
of between £500 and £5,000 are available to help groups work better,
to involve more people and to create a lasting benefit for
communities.
The
latest round of grants includes:
£4,424
to Brailes Village Hall & Playing Field to enhance facilities at
the play area. The grant will pay for outdoor play equipment.
£2,741
to Combrook Village Hall to enable increased participation in
community activities with a new marquee, storage shed, advertising,
furniture and other sundry items.
£4,500
to Council for Voluntary Service & Volunteer Bureaux, Stratford,
to provide a sessional worker to offer 50 children in the
Stratford-on-Avon District with 15 hours of support as part of ILEAP
(Inclusive Leisure Education Activities Project).
£1,200
to Fenny Compton Short Mat Bowls Club to provide bowls equipment.
£950
to Haselor Amenities Committee for a project to compile a photographic
record of the buildings in the parish to show how much the area has
changed as it reaches the year 2000.
£4,737
to Knightcote Children's Play Area Trust, Stratford, to establish a
play area.
£1,155
to Stour Valley Brach of the Embroiderers' Guild to provide display
equipment for an embroidery group providing workshops and teaching.
£3,776
to Stourton & Cherington Playing Fields Association to pay for
grounds improvements.
£3,335
to Stratford Basketball Club for start up costs, venue hire,
membership fees and coaching camps to establish the club and provide
equipment and coaching opportunities for young people.
£1,316
to Ullenhall Village Hall for replacement windows.
£4,187
to Welford-on-Avon Millennium Action Team for completion of a project
to renovate an area of land which has been neglected for many years.
The grant will make a contribution towards the cost of improving and
rehabilitating a specified natural environment area.
