AUG 99] STRATFORD ON AVON DISTRICT COUNCIL PRESS RELEASE
Drainage Work In ShipstonWork is due to start shortly on a new surface water culvert in Shipston-on-Stour,
Warwickshire. Old Road will be closed whilst the work is carried out to construct the
culvert, which is being installed to help reduce the problems of flooding to properties in
nearby New Street.
Programmed to start next Monday 16 August, the new culvert
will be laid in Old Road between West Croft to the north and number 20 Old Road to the
south. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained where practical, although the
road will be closed to through traffic. Work is expected to last about seven weeks.
The Council wishes to assure residents around the area that
everything will be done to keep disruption to a minimum. A newsletter explaining the works
has been sent to 170 homes and businesses around Old Road and New Street.

the works, they should contact the District Council's project officer, Tim Berwick on

A £74,000 contract has been awarded to Britannia
Construction Ltd of Cheltenham for the work, which is being paid for jointly by Stratford
District Council, Severn Trent Water, and Warwickshire County Council.
