Rugby Borough Council leader
Bryan Levy was the shock loser in last night’s elections.
He was upstaged in his
Brownsover ward by the Conservative Carolyn Robbins as a few seats
changed hands in all directions.
The council remains in no
overall control today, but the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats
have both strengthened their showing.
Labour lost three seats to
bring their total down to 18. The Conservatives and the Liberal
Democrats both made two gains, giving them 14 and nine seats
respectively.
The Independent group has
grown from six to seven, but the independent Rural Conservative
candidates did not stand again.
Other scalps included
Caldacott ward, where Thomas Hardgrave won the seat for the Liberal
Democrats from the Conservatives.
Labour’s
Donald Williams made a gain in New Bilton from Independent Stanley
Humphries.
