BOROUGH COUNCIL PRESS RELEASE
Launch of Rugby's Arts And Heritage FestivalHundreds
of invited guests will celebrate the launch of Rugby's Millennium Arts and Heritage
Festival on Friday (21 January).
The Benn Hall event includes a preview of the
projects taking place throughout the year and live musical entertainment.
The guests have been invited from organisations taking part
in the Festival - one of Rugby Council's biggest-ever community arts projects, involving
thousands of people. It consists of 10 projects incorporating a wide variety of art forms,
from brass bands, jazz and folk music to theatre, multi-cultural dance and crafts.
Mary Ferrier, the Council's Principal Recreation Officer,
said:
"The Festival is a wonderful collaboration of very
many groups and individuals from across the Borough and should offer some marvellous
entertainment. It's a chance for us to reflect on our past and celebrate the traditions
and cultures that have grown out of the area."
