Rugby Borough Council’s Sports Awards Presentation will be held on Tuesday 17 November 1998 in the Benn hall. The successful recipients will receive their awards from the Mayor of Rugby, Councillor Hazel Bell.

Awards will also be presented to the "Coach of the Year" and four runners-up in this category. The sports coaches were all nominated for an award by the youngsters and parents of local sports clubs.

There are eight sports awards this year with every successful applicant achieving national standards in their chosen sport. The sports range from football to badminton, and from judo to rugby. The £100 award will enable the youngsters to purchase extra equipment or assist parents with all the training fees.

A new award "The Simon Warwood Trophy" will also be presented to the Young Team of the Year.
