Landlord Fined For Noisy Pub
A
pub landlord must pay more than £2,500 after being convicted of
pestering residents with persistently loud music.
Noel
Bratton, of the Old Goose Inn in Orchard Street, Bedworth admitted two
counts of noise nuisance when he appeared in court.
The
case was brought because he failed to stop amplified music being
played too loudly
in the pub at night.
Residents
living nearby were subjected to noise for up to four nights a week
until Environmental Health Officers from Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough
Council stepped in.
Bratton
was fined a total of £2,250 and was ordered to pay the council’s
costs of £450. Officers believe the fine was high because of a
history of complaints about noise coming from the pub and because the
noise came from a commercial premises.
Cllr
Pat Henry, chair of the Environmental Health Committee which approved
the prosecution, said:
“Residents
can be assured that we do take note of their complaints and act on
them whenever possible.
“Pub
licensees should understand that they cannot simply do what they
wish. They need to account of residents in the vicinity.”
