MAY 00] NUNEATON & BEDWORTH BOROUGH COUNCIL NEWS
Recycling Groups Urged To Sign Up
Charities
and organisations in Nuneaton and Bedworth are being encouraged to get
involved in recycling or collecting reusable goods.
An
initiative is being launched to publicise the activities of groups
that recycle and reuse materials.
The
organisations are going to be included in a new recycling booklet to
be published later this year by Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council.
Christine
Lord, the council’s Recycling and Environment Officer, said she is
keen to encourage working partnerships of this kind.
She
said:
“I
am often asked for names of local organisations who collect
materials for recycling, and it is a pleasant part of my job to be
able to match up someone wanting to give items to charity, with a
charity that is in need.
“Working
in partnership benefits the charity, the council and its residents
by reducing the amount of money paid in waste disposal costs.”
Mrs
Lord is appealing to the organisers of all local charities that wish
to be included in the booklet to contact her as soon as possible on
024 7637 6170.
