“I welcome the lead taken
by the Provincial Grand Lodge of Warwickshire to be more open.
“It is the first time in
272 years of the history of freemasonry in the county that
non-masons have been invited to the annual meeting.
“It is the start of spirit
of greater openness that is much to the credit of masons in our
county.
“I am sure it will help
end the myths and fears about a secret society. Masons do a lot of
good charitable work but have suffered from a bad press because of
their historic secrecy.
“Greater openness can only
help reveal that Masons hide their light under a bushel.
“I
have called for Masons to be more open in the past and I warmly
welcome this step forward”
