Crumbling City Ring Road Faces Closure
Defects
have been discovered in sections of the supports propping up
Coventry’s ring road, forcing the closure of one lane while
repairs are carried out.
One
lane has been closed in the anti-clockwise section of the area
near the coach park, called Ringway Swanswell, while the changes
are being made.
The
defects were discovered during routine repairs to the concrete
trestles which support the ring road
The
lane closure will have to move across the width of the road as the
repairs progress along the trestles.
It
is expected that the closure will last up to eight weeks. Signs
will be erected to explain the repairs under the viaduct, and
drivers are being advised to find an alternative route where
possible as delays are expected.
