Central Library Forced To Close
BY
ANTONY HOPKER
The
lights have gone out on bookworms in Coventry as a power cut has
forced the city’s central library to close.
The
building in Smithford Way was shut yesterday morning because fuses
blew, and electricians have not yet been able to repair the
damage.
With
lighting and electrical equipment such as issuing machines not
working, the library could be shut for much of the day.
It
should be open later this afternoon, but people should ring on 024
7683 2314 before coming along in case it is still closed.
Assistant
City Librarian Colin Scott said:
"We've
closed the library while the fault is being sorted out for
health and safety reasons.
“If
customers want to bring items back they can still do so at the
Information Centre downstairs, although they won't be able to
take anything else out."
The
mobile library will still be on its usual route around the city.
